AMAZING.
That is the only way to describe the way I felt when I heard my name called as Miss Washtenaw County. I remember standing on stage awaiting the results, attempting to hide my nerves with a big smile, as my heart pounded harder and harder as the runner-ups were called. The wave of emotion that came over me was a mixture of excitement, relief, and over whelming joy.

My first appearance was truly amazing and rewarding (literally)! The Staples Center, which is an affiliate of The Salvation Army, was having a silent and live auction at Weber’s Inn in Ann Arbor and invited me to help auction off items.  They were also doing a raffle for a 40” Sony Bravia…. Which I happened to WIN! I can say that that is going to be a very hard appearance to beat ;)!

Some other things that I have been able to get involved with are SRSLY Chelsea and The Manchester After-Prom Program to help prevent underage drinking. I was also able to get involved with Operation Christmas Cheer, which is an event that helps send packages to U.S. troops serving overseas.

This year I will be working to raise awareness of the dangers of binge drinking and promoting The Miss America Organization’s national platform of The Children’s Miracle Network. I am so excited for the rest of my year and all of the appearances that are to come.

I’ M SO THANKFUL FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY!
